Change to Requirements for Manufacturers

Ohio has clarified a couple of requirements for manufacturing businesses:

  • A practical reason for not wearing a facial covering is having manufacturing employees separated by more than six feet or by a barrier when performing their jobs on the manufacturing floor.
  • Employees must perform daily symptom assessment, including for cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell.

We require employees to work six feet apart or with a barrier.  There are limited exceptions for working closely including the training of new employees.  When working within six feet is required, facial coverings are also required.  Otherwise, facial coverings are optional.

The old poster explaining the health order required that temperature be taken with a thermometer when performing the daily symptom assessment.  The new poster from the state outlines symptoms but does not require that temperature be taken.  Also, the employee (not the employer) is responsible for the symptom check.
